JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Lifeguard / Concession worker
DEPARTMENT: Swimming Pool
REPORTS TO: Pool Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY: Lifeguards and Concession Workers will enforce safety regulations for the protection of pool guests and maintain cleanliness of the pool and surrounding area.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Responsible for providing a safe environment for pool uses which includes, but are not
limited to the following: assisting with preparation of the swimming pool for public use,
maintaining and cleaning the pool, bath house, concession stand and the area around
the pool.
* Responsible for ensuring the safety of all pool users and enforcing and complying with
the rules and regulations established by the City Council.
* Must be alert at all times when lifeguarding.
* Responsible for keeping record of the pool users and operating the concessions stand.
* Assisting with swimming lessons.
* Assist with closing the pool for the season.
* Must be prompt when reporting for work as scheduled and utilize the time card system.
* Be alert for potential weather conditions.
* Other responsibilities as assigned by the Pool Manager.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Basic knowledge of swimming pool rules and regulations; Ability to make basic mathematical calculations and count money; Ability to perform light mechanical duties of the pool operation; Must be physically fit to perform duties and may be required to lift up to fifty (50) pounds; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; Ability to deal with the public and represent the City in a positive manner; Ability to be calm under pressure.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS:
Lifeguards must be at least fifteen (15) years old and certified in lifeguard training, CPR For the Professional Rescuer and First Aid. Concession Workers must be at least fourteen (14) years old and have CPR and First Aid training.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The job is seasonal. Working hours may consist of 6 – 10 hours per day, nights and weekends as scheduled. As a seasonal position, employee is not eligible for overtime. Accommodations may be made for attending various summer programs for school and/or church. Pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol testing will be conducted throughout the season.
