                             MINUTES OF THE

NEW UNDERWOOD CITY COUNCIL

  

A regular meeting of the New Underwood City Council was held at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Center on November 17, 2010.  Present were: Councilmember’s: Rikka Buchtel, Jackie Dahlquist, Michael Green, and Joe Whitney.   Also present: Dir. Public Works Greg Hall, Public Works Supervisor John Bale, Finance Officer Meri Jo Anderson, Deputy McPherson, Russ Korzeniewski, Judy McKay, Wes Flint, John Torrey, Kristi Lemke, and Cris Allen. Meeting was called to order by Council President Green, since Mayor White was absent

 

AGENDA

Moved by Whitney second by Dahlquist to approve the agenda.  Aye: all. Motion

carried.

 

MINUTES                                                               

Moved by Dahlquist second by Buchtel to approve the November 3, 2010 minutes. Aye: all.  Motion carried.

 

PUBLIC HEARING

A public hearing was held on November 17, 2010 @ 6:05 p.m. to receive citizen input on the placement of a mobile home at 309 S. “A” Ave.  Concerns expressed were:  meeting set backs, cleaning up the area, age & type of mobile home, electric lines, branches, and old shed that needs tore down. The hearing adjourned at 6:15 p.m.

 

AMERICAN RED CROSS

Russ Korzeniewski, Dir. of Programs & Services for the American Red Cross, spoke to the Council about disaster response.  They have a shelter training class they would like to offer.  The Finance Officer will contact the Ambulance and Fire Department to offer this  training at the Community Center.

 

PUBLIC WORKS

Mr. Hall presented the written report of activity the past two weeks.  They have been sewer jetting, smoke tests, garbage, equipment repairs, addition to shop, and motor saver.

There is a bad hydrant at the corner of Ash St. & “C” Ave.  Mr. Hall spoke to the Fire Chief and the hydrant at well #2 does not have enough pressure to fill fire trucks promptly, so this hydrant could be used.  If the broken hydrant cannot be repaired, it was moved by Dahlquist second by Buchtel to use the hydrant up at well #2 since it is not useable at that location.  Aye: all.  Motion carried.

 

COMMUNITY CENTER

The City thanked Pastor Jim Harbert for installing the new speakers for the stereo system in the Community Center.

 

WATER MAIN EXTENSION

Extending a water main west on the north side of 1416.  The property owner asked if the City would be open to using man and machine to extend this line, if the property owner paid for all materials.  The Council was open to discussing this project with him.

 

 

BUILDING PERMITS

BP#10-26; Dave Fisk; 309 S. “A” Ave.; move on mobile home, garage

Moved by Whitney second by Buchtel to table this permit, since it was never turned back in.  Aye: all.  Motion carried.

 

SPIKING PERMITS

SP#10-12; Meri Jo Anderson; December 31, 2010

Moved by Dahlquist second by Whitney to approve this permit.  Aye: all.  Motion carried.

 

EXECUTIVE SESSION

Motion by Whitney second by Dahlquist to table the executive session, since it was not needed.  Aye: all.  Motion carried.

 

Being no further business Council President Green adjourned the meeting at 6:30 p.m.
