NEW UNDERWOOD CITY COUNCIL

 

A regular meeting of the New Underwood City Council was held at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Center on February 19, 2014.  Present were: Mayor Jack Trullinger, Council member’s: Rikka Buchtel, Larry Graham, Laurie Holloway, and Kathy Trullinger. Also present: Finance Officer Meri Jo Anderson and Dianne Trullinger.  The meeting was called to order by Mayor Trullinger.

 

AGENDA

Motion by Graham second by K. Trullinger to approve the agenda.  Aye: all. Motion carried.

 

MINUTES 

Moved by Holloway second by Buchtel to approve the February 6, 2014 minutes as presented.  Aye: all.  Motion carried. 

 

RESOLUTION NUMBER 14-01

Resolution Number 14-01 received its second reading.

 

RESOLUTION NUMBER. 14-01

 

            A RESOLUTION EXTENDING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE CITY OF NEW UNDERWOOD, SOUTH DAKOTA, BY ANNEXING LANDS MORE SPECIFICALLY DESCRIBED HEREIN.

           

WHEREAS, not less than three-fourths of the registered voters and the owners of not less than three-fourths of the value of the territory sought to be annexed have petitioned the Common Council of the City of New Underwood for concurrent annexation and rezoning of the territory herein described; and,

               

WHEREAS, the territory described herein adjoins and is contiguous to the existing boundaries of the City of New Underwood and is not separated from the existing City by any significant physical barriers, and annexation is natural and reasonable and the municipal body hereby created constitutes a homogenous and unified entity.

               

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of New Underwood, Pennington, South Dakota, that the following described territory be and the same is hereby annexed to the City of New Underwood, to-wit: 

 

Being  SW1/4SE1/4 of  Section 31; T2N; R11E; BHM; New Underwood; Pennington County; South Dakota (approximately 40 acres).

Moved by Graham second by K. Trullinger to approve Resolution Number 14-01. Roll call vote.  Aye:  Buchtel, Graham, Holloway, and K. Trullinger.  Nay: none.  Motion carried.

BUILDING PERMITS
BP#14-02; Moes; 415 S. “A” Ave; storage shed
Moved by K. Trullinger second by Graham to approve this permit as long as all set backs are met. Aye: all. Motion carried.
 
SPECIAL ALCOHOL LICENSE
SL#14-01; Moes; March 22, 2014; Community Center
Motion by Graham second by Buchtel to approve these permits.  Aye: all.  Motion carried.
 
OTHER ITEMS DISCUSSED
1. Governmental Funds Sheets presented by the Council.
2. The Finance Officer reported on the selection committee she was appointed to. At the DOT TAP meeting the selection committee distributed 2.3 million in federal funds to several municipalities throughout the State in the form of grants.
3.  The tug is repaired.
4.  Trial with steel post and rope to try to keep totes from blowing away.
5.  Mr. Bale will start attending the meetings again and he has been released to drive truck.
6. HB 1177 & SB179 are both texting ban and the Mayor and Council prefer SB179 which retains local control and will contact their representatives to vote in favor of SB179.   

 

Being no further business Mayor Trullinger adjourned the meeting at 6:18 p.m.
