MINUTES OF THE

NEW UNDERWOOD CITY COUNCIL

  

A regular meeting of the New Underwood City Council was held at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Center on December 1, 2010.  Present were: Councilmember’s: Rikka Buchtel, Jackie Dahlquist, Michael Green, and Joe Whitney.   Also present: Dir. Public Works Greg Hall, Public Works Supervisor John Bale, Finance Officer Meri Jo Anderson, Deputy McPherson, Lt. Brubakken, Dena Whitney, John Torrey and Cris, Keira, Sydnie, and Summer Allen.  The meeting was called to order by Council President Green.

 

PUBLIC HEARING – LIQUOR LICENSES

A public hearing was opened at 6:00 p.m. on liquor licenses for Montgomery Sandal, Moe’s Bar & Grill; 415 S. “A” Ave.; Lots 5-7 Block 2 Orig. Twn;  Package & Retail Liquor (on & off sale) Twizted Tavern; Kim Karp; 524 S.  “A” Ave; Package & Retail Liquor (on & off sale), and for Steve Brandsted; Steve’s Superstore, Inc. – 22797 161st Ave.; Retail (on sale).  No one presented themselves to voice any objections to these licenses.  The public hearing adjourned at 6:05 p.m.

Moved by Dahlquist second by Buchtel to approve the November 17, 2010 minutes. Aye: all.  Motion carried.

MEETING DATE CHANGE

The next City Council meeting will be held Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at the Community Center, instead of on Wednesday.

 

DUMP

The Dir. of Public Works reported the dump will be closed on Saturdays until spring. A key still can be obtained during office hours at City Hall.

 

RAISING THE WATERSALESMAN RATE

The Dir of Public Work explained that he would try to get the radium removal fee on the watersalesman.  The Council deferred to the public works department to do this when scheduling allows.

 

LAW ENFORCEMENT

Deputy McPherson presented his written monthly report.  He reported on his DARE classes and DARE classes here will begin January 17th.

Lt. Brubakken briefed the Council on the arrest that had taken place today on a first degree murder charge of a citizen from New Underwood.  The military police, Rapid City police department, and the Sheriff’s Department are involved in an ongoing investigation.  The needs of the children involved are being met.  He will keep the Council updated.

 

MOBILE HOME PARK ORDINANCE

Discussion on what standards the Council would like placed in this ordinance followed.

The Council will submit written suggestions and an ordinance will be drafted for Council consideration.

Since no one presented themselves to voice any objections it was moved by Dahlquist  second by Whitney to approve these liquor licenses for the year 2011.  Aye: all.  Motion carried.

 

2011 INSURANCE

Motion by Buchtel second by Whitney to table the 2011 insurance package until more information is received from the agent.  Aye: all.  Motion carried.

 

SPIKING PERMIT

SP#10-13; Meri Jo Anderson; December 18, 2010

Moved by Whitney second by Dahlquist to approve this permit.  Aye: all.  Motion carried.

 

EXECUTIVE SESSION

Motion by Whitney second by Buchtel to table the executive session, since it was not needed.  Aye: all.  Motion carried.
