MINUTES OF THE

NEW UNDERWOOD CITY COUNCIL

 

A regular meeting of the New Underwood City Council was held on December 21, 2005 at 6:00 p.m.  Present were: Mayor Benita White, Councilmembers: Jackie Dahlquist, Larry Graham, Michael Green, and LeeAnn Schumacher.   Also present: The Fin. Officer Meri Jo Anderson, Asst. Fin. Officer Teresa Gossard, Dir. Public Works Greg Hall, Asst. Dir. Public Works Jack Trullinger, Officer Przymus, Lt. Weber,  Al Ackerman, Pat Hall, Diane Trullinger, Linda Graham, Bob & Helen Hall, and Christi Hendrickson.

 

AGENDA

Moved by Schumacher second by Dahlquist to approve the agenda.  Aye: all.  Motion carried.

 

MINUTES                                                               

Motion by Dahlquist second by Graham to approve the December 7, 2005 minutes. Aye: all.  Motion carried.

 

CONTINGENCY TRANSFER

The governmental funds sheets were presented.  Motion by Schumacher second by Green to transfer $2,000.00 from contingency to 433.3 Water Purification.  Roll call vote.  Aye:  Dahlquist, Graham, Green, and Schumacher.  Nay: none.  Motion carried.

 

LAW ENFORCEMENT

Officer Przymus reported that a youth had started his community service with the City this week.

 

CITY HALL RENOVATION

The Council agreed that a letter to another public entity should be sent requesting a joint effort to work together in getting a new City shop. 

Christi Hendrickson suggested looking in to a cooperative effort between the school and the City in building together like Faith did.

Mayor White said we would look into these and other options in obtaining the most feasible solution. 

 

BOYDSTON WATER

The water contract addendum and the negotiations so far were given to the Council in a written report. Motion by Schumacher second by Dahlquist that the addendum be tabled until more information is obtained.  Aye: all.  Motion carried.

 

AMBULANCE DEPT.

Jack Trullinger, Ambulance Chief, requested using the Community Center on January 15, 2006 for the Pancake Supper.  Motion by Schumacher second by Green to grant this request and waive the fee.  Aye: all.  Motion carried.

 

 

FIRE DEPT.

Ron Racicky, Fire Chief, reported the new siren will be installed at the end of January.  He thanked the City for considering helping them on the first proposal, but the State had given them a full grant. He discussed the need for a new siren and new pagers.  The Mayor and the Fire Chief will get together to discuss the City obtaining a pager.

 

EMPLOYEE INCENTIVE

The Council again brought up consideration of bonuses for the four permanent employees.  This policy is to be reviewed yearly.  Motion by Green second by Schumacher to approve paying a Christmas bonus of $10.00 per year of service to each permanent employee, not to exceed $100.00.  Aye: all.  Motion carried.

 

COMMUNITY CENTER

The leak in the ice machine is being worked on tomorrow. 

The leak under the sink in the utility room will be addressed.  The water may be running under the tiles from the ice machine. 

Diane Trullinger turned in her keys today, she will not be able to come back to cleaning the Community Center, since her back surgery, but would like to continue to clean City Hall.  The Council thanked her for her years of service cleaning the Community Center and stated she could continue to clean City Hall.  The current cleaners will be contacted about continuing to fill in for Diane. 

 

OTHER ITEMS DISCUSSED THROUGHOUT MEETING

  1. Correspondence – alley, animal control, semi trailer parking. 
  2. The insurance proposal was given to the Council.  Kathy Maguire will be here on January 18th to answer questions about the policy. 

 

Being no further business the Mayor adjourned the meeting at 6:50 p.m.
