MINUTES OF THE
NEW UNDERWOOD CITY COUNCIL

A regular meeting of the New Underwood City Council was held at 6:00 p.m. at the Community Center on August 18, 2020. Present were: Councilmembers: Larry Graham, Tera Hockenbary, Tara Richter and Kathy Trullinger. Absent: Mayor Gossard. Also present: Meri Jo Anderson, Finance Director, Kristi Pritzkau, Finance Officer, Public Works Director Tim Hall, Ronnie Racicky and Serena Rice. The meeting was called to order by Council President Graham with the Pledge of Allegiance following.



AGENDA

Motion by K. Trullinger second by Richter to approve the agenda. Aye: all. Motion carried.



PUBLIC HEARING

A public hearing was held for Alcohol beverage license for Renewal at the Corner Bar for Serena Rice & Wendy Philipsen at 524 S. A Ave. for a Uniform Alcoholic Beverage License; Malt Beverage and SD Farm Wine License, with no input the hearing was adjourned at 6:04 p.m.

Moved by Richter second by Hockenbary to approve the August 5, 2020 minutes. Aye: all. Motion carried.



PUBLIC WORKS

After much equipment maintenance the chip sealing of the streets is done.
The water storage tank cleaning has been scheduled with Liquid Engineering.
The water tests that are done every three years of SOC and VOC came back good.


SUPPLEMENTAL BUDGET ORDINANCE #20-04

Ordinance # 20-04; Supplemental Budget Ordinance received its second reading.

SUPPLEMENTAL BUDGET ORDINANCE

BE IT ORDAINED by the New Underwood City Council that the following amounts be appropriated to the 2020 budget to meet the obligations of the municipality: (Swimming Pool) 101/454/426 – 7500.00; Means of finance: assigned funds from 2019.

Motion by Hockenbary seconded by Richter to approve the second reading of Ordinance # 20-04. Roll call vote. Aye: Hockenbary, Richter, K. Trullinger and Graham. Motion carried.



2021 BUDGET ORDINANCE

Budget Ordinance Number 20-05 received its first reading. Motion by Richter second by K. Trullinger to approve the first reading of 2021 Budget Ordinance #20-05. Aye: all. Motion carried.



203 S. C AVE.

The owner of the property at 203 S. C Ave. responded to an email saying they plan to have the mobile home removed next week



2020 MALT BEVERAGE & SD WINE LICENSE

Renewal of Alcohol beverage license for the Corner Bar; Serena Rice & Wendy Philipsen at 524 S. A Ave. for Uniform Alcoholic Beverage License; Malt Beverage and SD Farm Wine License. It was moved by Hockenbary seconded by K Trullinger to approve this license renewal. Aye: all. Motion carried.



OTHER ITEMS DISCUSSED:

The Finance Director and the Finance Officer will be going to Pierre on August 19, 2020 for SDML policy meetings.
First Interstate Bank is going to help with the front deck and the Food Pantry at City Hall for their volunteer day in September. $500.00 was donated for each project.
Mayor Gossard approved the purchase of two new distributor truck tires so the chip sealing of the streets could be completed.
The pool was closed successfully. It will be winterized in September.
Bill and Diane Tines and Donna and Leroy Rankin donated money to stock the Food Pantry at City Hall and Donna and Leroy Rankin picked up the food. Thanks to them for their generosity.


Being no further business Council President Graham adjourned the meeting at 6:16 p.m.
