New Underwood, South Dakota

A regular meeting of the New Underwood City Council was held at 6:05 p.m. at the Community Center on February 15, 2022. Present were: Mayor Teresa Hall, Councilmembers: Larry Graham, Tera Hockenbary and Tara Richter. Telephonically: Kathy Trullinger. Also present: Meri Jo Anderson, Finance Director, Kristi Pritzkau, Finance Officer, Public Works Director Tim Hall and Amy Caringi. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hall with the Pledge of Allegiance following.

AGENDA
Motion by Richter seconded by Graham to approve the agenda. Aye: all. Nay: none. Motion carried.

MINUTES
Motion by K. Trullinger second by Richter to approve the February 8, 2022 minutes as presented. Aye: all. Motion carried.

PUBLIC WORKS
A water service line break at 409 S. Madison Ave. had caused the water at the Good Samaritan Center to be rust colored. That line has been shut off and the current owner of the property has been notified.

SIMPLE CITY SOFTWARE
An investment summary for the gWorks Simple City software was received for the utility billing service as well as an online portal that will increase information available to residents concerning their bills. This will allow citizens to view and pay their bills, view the bill history, set up autopay for their bill and more all without having to be in person. Motion by Graham second by Richter to approve $12,759.00 for the purchase and utilization of this software possibly using the ARPA fund money, if that is not allowed there are funds available elsewhere in the budget. Roll call vote. Aye: Graham, Hockenbary, Richter, K. Trullinger. Nay: none. Motion carried.

SPECIAL LICENSES
Motion by Graham second by Hockenbary to approve SL #22-01 for Moe’s Bar and Grill at the Community Center for the Hefty Appreciation Supper March 4, 2022, SL #22-02 for Moe’s Bar and Grill at the Community Center for the Rodeo Club steak feed on March 25, 2022, SL #22-03 for Moe’s Bar and Grill at the Community Center for the City of New Underwood District 9 Meeting on March 30, 2022 and SL #22-04 for Moe’s Bar and Grill at the Community Center for a wedding on June 11, 2022. Aye: all. Nay: none. Motion carried.
Motion by Hockenbary second by Richter to waive the $100.00 license fee for the District 9 meeting on March 30, 2022. Aye: all. Nay: none. Motion carried.

SPIKING PERMIT
Spiking Permit #22-02 at the Community Center for Cristi Nelson on June 25, 2022 for a wedding was tabled until completed paperwork for it has been received.

OTHER ITEMS DISCUSSED:
• Governmental fund sheets were presented.
• Local quotes will be sought for a stage for the Community Center to replace the existing one.
• Amy Caringi stated the New Underwood Fire Department meetings are on the first Tuesday of every month and they are open to the public.
Being no further business Mayor Hall adjourned the meeting at 6:19 p.m.
