MINUTES OF THE
NEW UNDERWOOD CITY COUNCIL
A regular meeting of the New Underwood City Council was held at 6:00 p.m. at the Community Center on October 18, 2017. Present were: Mayor Jack Trullinger, Councilmembers: Teresa Gossard, Larry Graham, and Kathy Trullinger. Absent: Karin Shoemaker. Also present: Meri Jo Anderson, Finance Officer, Kristi Pritzkau, Assistant Finance Officer, Dir. of Public Works Tim Hall, Ron Racicky, Randy Madsen, and Dianne Trullinger. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Trullinger.
AGENDA
Motion by Gossard second by K. Trullinger to approve the agenda. Aye: all. Motion carried.
MINUTES
Moved by Graham second by K. Trullinger to approve the October 11, 2017 minutes as presented. Aye: all. Motion carried.
GARBAGE TRUCK
Garbage truck fan blade broke when a cat got in it, so they had to repair and are behind schedule on the garbage pick up.
Mr. Hall reported the air bags need replaced. Motion by Graham second by Gossard to change out the air bags on the garbage truck. Aye: all. Motion carried.
JAKE BRAKING
The pros and cons on whether to keep the ordinance on dynamic engine braking followed. The Council finally agreed that the signs prohibiting should be put up by the cemetery and below the east bound exit on 161st Street.
513 S. “A” AVE
The tax certificate has been issued for this property but the 61 day count down has not begun. The Mayor asked the Council if they wanted to proceed with getting this property cleaned up. The Council wants the building condemned and demolished and the costs special assessed to the property no matter who the owner is. Moved by Gossard second by K. Trullinger to coordinate with the city attorney on getting this property condemned and demolished. Aye: all. Motion carried.
Ron Racicky, Fire Chief, stated if a letter from the Fire Dept. is needed stating this property is a safety hazard they would provide it.
CONSIDERATION of 2018 LIQUOR LICENSE RENEWALS

Randall H. Madsen & Wendy Philipsen; 524 S. “A” Ave; renewal #RL-5755 (on sale)
Motion by Graham second by Gossard to approve all the above renewals. Aye: all. Nay: none. Motion carried.
SPIKING PERMIT
Spiking Permit SP#17-05; Tami Phillips; baby shower.
It was moved by Graham second by K. Trullinger to approve Spiking Permit SP#17-05. Aye: all. Motion carried.
OTHER ITEMS DISCUSSED:
The Finance Officer presented the Governmental Funds Sheets.
The winter cover for the pool will be here in approximately two weeks. The total cost is $1,672.58.
After this Saturday the dump will close on weekends until next spring. A key can still be obtained at the City Hall during office hours. No one will be allowed to keep a key over the week-end.
Public Works received a thank you for exposing the fire hydrants for the fire dept.
Pennington County highway was commended on the fine work they did sloping the drainage across from the bank.
Being no further business Mayor Trullinger adjourned the meeting at 6:45 p.m.
