MINUTES OF THE
NEW UNDERWOOD CITY COUNCIL
A regular meeting of the New Underwood City Council was held at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Center on April 24, 2013. Present were: Mayor Jack Trullinger, Council member’s: Rikka Buchtel, Laurie Holloway, Kathy Trullinger, and Joe Whitney. Also present: Finance Officer Meri Jo Anderson, Dir. of Public Works John Bale, Jim McKee, Dustin Willett, and Dianne Trullinger. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Trullinger.
AGENDA
Motion by Buchtel second by Whitney to approve the agenda. Aye: all. Motion carried.
MINUTES
Moved by Buchtel second by Holloway to approve the April 3 & April 18, 2013 minutes as presented. Aye: all. Motion carried.
LABOR DAY COMMITTEE
The Labor Day Committee donated a new Bun Coffee pot to the community center.
GARBAGE
The 300 gallon plastic dumpsters working. A roll off is out at the dump for the larger items, and will cost the city $160.00 a dump.
YIELD SIGN
The solar light for the yield sign at the corner of 1416 and 161st has been installed. The Council agreed Mr. Ascrizzi should submit his bill.

Resolution Number 13-06 was introduced.

BE IT RESOLVED by the New Underwood City Council that the following property be declared surplus: 10 - 2 yard metal dumpsters and 5 – 1 ½ yard metal dumpsters.

Moved by Whitney second by Trullinger to accept resolution number 13-06. Roll call vote. Aye: Buchtel, Holloway, K. Trullinger, and Whitney. Nay: none. Motion carried.
The Council sat as the appraisal board. The dumpsters will be advertised on the web site and in the SD Municipal League magazine.
MITIGATION PLAN
Dusin Willett, Pennington County Emergency Management Director, spoke to the Council about the 2013 mitigation plan and the necessity for the City of NU to adopt, whereupon Resolution Number 13-07 was introduced.
RESOLUTION NUMBER 13-07
BE IT RESOLVED by the New Underwood City Council that they adopt the Pennington County Pre-hazard Mitigation Plan and authorize the Mayors signature on this mitigation plan along with Wall, Keystone, Hill City, Rapid City, and Pennington County.

BP#13-08; Travis Madsen; 120 S. “A” Ave; fence & doors & approach.
Motion by Whitney second by Holloway to approve this permit pending approval of the County and that it does not displace water on other property owners. Aye: all. Motion carried.
BP#13-09; Larry Gossard; 515 S. “B” Ave; remove mobile home & shed.
BP#13-10; George Langendorfer; 16042 Hwy 1416; remove storage shed.
Motion by Holloway second by Whitney to approve these permit. Aye: all. Motion carried
SUPPLEMENTAL BUDGET ORDINANCE
Supplemental Budget Ordinance Number 13-03 received its first reading (puts money in the budget for new garbage truck). Motion by Buchtel second by Whitney to accept the first reading. Aye: all. Motion carried.
Other items discussed:
1. District Meeting April 25, 2013 here in NU. Special meeting, since entire Council will be present.
2. Governmental Funds Sheets presented.
4. Lift station went down several times this month – mop heads, sheets, wipes, towels in pump.
5. Clean Up week-end will be April 27 & 28, 2013.
6. The animal clinic will be April 27 for 10 am to noon.
7. Public Works staff taking water classes.
8. Mr. Bale will start hauling dirt for the lagoon repair project.
9. Mayor Trullinger attended Mayors meeting in Hill City today and may be able to borrow a rock crusher from Rapid City.
10. Angle broom shaft hollowed out. Repair quotes will be obtained, if under $500.00 the repairs will be made.
11. The Council meeting will be held April 24, 2013, with a special meeting April 17th to attend the District meeting. A quorum of the Council will be present, but no official business will be discussed.
Being no further business Mayor Trullinger adjourned the meeting at 7:00 p.m.
