MINUTES OF THE

NEW UNDERWOOD CITY COUNCIL

A regular meeting of the New Underwood City Council was held on Jan. 5, 2005 at 6:00 p.m. Present were: Mayor Benita White, Councilmembers: Jackie Dahlquist, Tyler Richter, and LeeAnn Schumacher. Absent: Michael Green. Also present: The Fin. Officer Meri Jo Anderson, Dir. Public Works Greg Hall, Asst. Finance Officer Teresa Gossard, Officers Wardle, Prizmus, and Sgt. Brubock.

AGENDA

Moved by Dahlquist second by Richter to approve the amended agenda. Aye: all. Motion carried.

MINUTES

Motion by Dahlquist second by Richter to approve the Dec. 15, 2004 minutes. Aye: all. Motion carried.

FINANCIAL REPORT & BILLIST

The Finance Officer presented the financial reports, bill-list and vouchers. Motion by Schumacher second by Dahlquist to approve the financial reports and the following warrants as presented. Aye: all. Motion carried.

Motion by Richter second by Dahlquist to approve spiking permit 05-01. Aye: all. Motion carried.

PUBLIC WORKS

Mr. Hall reported that Mr. Trullinger injured his back on Dec. 14, 2004 lifting a lined can during garbage collection. He has been on medical leave since, and is not expected to be able to return to work for a few months. Mr. Hall will keep the Council updated on his progress. The City is looking for someone to take the maintenance man position. If interested please contact City Hall for details, information, and necessary qualifications.

LAW ENFORCEMENT

Officer Wardle gave his written monthly report. He discussed the burglaries (minors involved), underage drinking, and animal control. Sgt. Brubock was introduced and is Officer Wardle’s superior, covering officers in this area. Dan is currently training Officer Kent Prizmus.

STAGE

The Mayor reported that to date the City has obligated $1500.00 for the stage, the School $7500.00, and the Community Play Committee approx. $1,000.00. Details on an agreement must still be worked out. The Mayor will keep the Council informed as this project progresses.

BUILDING PERMIT

#05-01; Larry Graham; 102 North "B" Ave.; garage & variance request on set backs to north.

Moved by Schumacher second by Richter to approve BP#05-01 and the variance. Aye: all. Motion carried.

OTHER ITEMS DISCUSSED THROUGHOUT MEETING

1. Legislative Day in Pierre Feb. 1 & 2

2. Special School Board Meeting Jan. 6, 2005, since the Council will be in attendance it will also be a special meeting for them.

Being no further business the Mayor adjourned the meeting at 6:50 p.m.
