MINUTES OF THE
NEW UNDERWOOD CITY COUNCIL
A regular meeting of the New Underwood City Council was held at 6:00 p.m. at the Community Center on June 16, 2020. Present were: Mayor Teresa Gossard, Councilmembers: Larry Graham, Tera Hockenbary and Tara Richter. Absent: Kathy Trullinger. Also present: Kristi Pritzkau, Finance Officer, Tim Hall, Director of Public Works, Jaedyn Finkbeiner and Lawrence Hockenbary. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Gossard with the Pledge of Allegiance following.
PUBLIC HEARING
A public hearing was held for Moe’s Bar and Grill; Special License #20-09; July 9-12, 2020; for a high school rodeo and SDRA rodeo at the Rodeo Grounds. With no input the hearing was adjourned at 6:03 p.m.
AGENDA
Motion by Richter second by Hockenbary to approve the agenda. Aye: all. Motion carried.
MINUTES
Moved by Graham second by Richter to approve the June 3, 2020 minutes with the corrections of in attendance: Lawrence Hockenbary; DENR (annual water fee) $966.00 from Water Fund, TOTAL: 4083.85, General Fund TOTAL: 15697.20; and Mayor Gossard adjourned the meeting. Aye: all. Motion carried.
DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS
There is no more EZ street being made until the fall. The other options are to get small amounts of hot mix to lay down or ask Pennington County if it is possible to rent their machine that sprays oil then applies chips.
Chip sealing will be done once they are done fixing the potholes. The price of the oil for chip sealing has not changed since last year.
The fence for the solar panels is complete and the pool is now operational.
MAYOR
Mayor Gossard reiterated that a Building Permit is required for new construction that is done within City limits, these can be obtained at City Hall.
SURPLUS PROPERTY
It was moved by Graham seconded by Hockenbary to approve $100.00 to advertise the surplus 1977 Wabco Motor Grader in The Profit for 2 weeks and to advertise it in the SDML magazine.
SPECIAL LICENSE
Motion by Graham seconded by Richter to approve Special License #20-09 on July 9-12, for Moe’s Bar and Grill for rodeos at the Rodeo Grounds. Aye: all. Motion carried.
POOL
The community has been understanding of the new requirements and limits on the pool occupancy caused by the COVID- 19 virus and there have been no problems getting the waivers signed for the patrons.
The pool has consistently been at the 15-person maximum capacity since opening and the signs stating that have been helpful.
OTHER ITEMS DISCUSSED:
Governmental fund sheets were presented along with the corrected Bill List and Savings Sheet.
The Finance Officer will check with the SDML to confirm that the Council may reappraise surplus items within the 12 months following the appraisal.
Being no further business Mayor Gossard adjourned the meeting at 6:22 p.m.
