MINUTES OF THE
NEW UNDERWOOD CITY COUNCIL
A regular meeting of the New Underwood City Council was held at 6:00 p.m. at the Community Center on February 5, 2020. Present were: Mayor Jack Trullinger, Councilmembers: Teresa Gossard, Larry Graham and Kathy Trullinger. Absent: Karin Shoemaker. Also present: Meri Jo Anderson, Finance Director, Kristi Pritzkau, Finance Officer, Dir. of Public Works Tim Hall, Sergeant Harkins, Wendy Philipsen and Randy Madsen. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Trullinger with the Pledge of Allegiance following.
AGENDA
Motion by K. Trullinger second by Graham to approve the agenda. Aye: all. Motion carried.
MINUTES
Moved by K. Trullinger second by Gossard to approve the January 15, 2020 minutes. Aye: all. Motion carried.
FINANCIAL REPORT & BILL LIST
The bill-list, savings sheet and vouchers were presented. Moved by Graham second by K. Trullinger to approve the financial reports and the following warrants as presented. Aye: all. Motion carried.

DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS
They want to make sure that they are completely ready before they do the new meters at the Good Samaritan Center and the main meter at the school.
LAW ENFORCEMENT
Sergeant Harkins presented the monthly report as Deputy Jones was attending a training.
MAYOR
March 18th is the deadline to register to attend the District meeting on April 1, 2020.
A few street lights that are not working correctly in town have been reported to WREA.
Geronimo Energy is having an open house meeting at the Community Center on February 6, 2020 to discuss the project close to town with the adjacent property owners and the City Council and Mayor.
Three letters were sent to properties in town concerning skirting, a frozen meter fee and moving a shed from the Right of Way of an alley.
200 E. PINE
Mr. Hall stated the water line at 200 E. Pine St. runs on the east side of the flood ditch and goes 3 feet to the south to the property line at 110 Elm St. then west under the flood ditch.
NUISANCE ORDINANCE AMENDMENTS
After much discussion it was moved by Gossard seconded by Graham to approve the removal of chickens from the list of animals not allowed by the Nuisance Ordinance and to set a maximum of 5 female chickens allowed per residence. At the next meeting an Amendment to the Ordinance will be presented to the Council. Aye: all. Motion carried.
BUILDING PERMIT
It was moved by Gossard seconded by K. Trullinger to approve BP #20-03; removal of mobile home at 203 S. C Ave. for Daene Boomsma. Aye: all. Motion carried.
SPIKING PERMIT
Motion by Gossard second by Graham to approve Spiking Permit #20-02 for Sara Hansen; Party; April 17, 2020. Aye: all. Motion carried.
RESOLUTION #20-02
Resolution number 20-02 was introduced.
RESOLUTION NUMBER 20-02
WHEREAS, the City of New Underwood has evaluated the rising costs of the radium removal fee, and
WHEREAS, this fee did not cover the cost of the radium removal for the year 2019, and
WHEREAS, the radium removal fee has not raised since September 2010, and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the following rates will be effective on March 4, 2020:
Radium Removal: $2.00 per thousand gallons of water used.

SPECIAL LICENSE #20-01
It was moved by Gossard second by K. Trullinger to approve Special License #20-01; Moe’s Bar and Grill; Hefty Feed and Seed’s Customer Appreciation on February 21, 2020 at the Community Center. Aye: all. Motion carried.
RESOLUTION #20-03
Resolution #20-03 was introduced.
RESOLUTION 20-03
WHEREAS, there will be improvements done to the Dedicated Right of Way as this will be the main access to the properties south of 200 E. Pine St. Resolution #20-03 was introduced to name this street; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of New Underwood has the authority to name a street; and,
WHEREAS, once the dedicated right of way is brought up to the specifications of the Ordinance by the developer, it will become part of the street system for the properties south of 200 E. Pine St. in the City of New Underwood; and,
WHEREAS, the roadway is in need of having a street name officially assigned; and,
WHEREAS, the owner of said property desires to have the concurrence of the City Council on the naming of the roadway.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of New Underwood that the name of this roadway be Cecilia Lane.
