MINUTES OF THE
NEW UNDERWOOD CITY COUNCIL
A regular meeting of the New Underwood City Council was held at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Center on December 14, 2010. Present were: Councilmember’s: Rikka Buchtel, Jackie Dahlquist, Michael Green, and Joe Whitney. Also present: Dir. Public Works Greg Hall, Public Works Supervisor John Bale, Finance Officer Meri Jo Anderson, Deputy McPherson, Dena Whitney, Rob, Cris, Keira, Sydnie, and Summer Allen and Janice Jensen. The meeting was called to order by Council President Green.
MAYOR
Council President Green announced that Mayor White had passed away today and thanked her and her family for the 22 years she had devoted to the City. Council Vice President Dahlquist also expressed her appreciation for what Mayor White had done for this City.
Council President Green stated that at the first meeting in January the city will follow SDCL 9-8-2 in filling the vacancy in the Mayors office and the Council concurred.

carried.
MINUTES
Moved by Whitney second by Dahlquist to approve the December 1, 2010 minutes. Aye: all. Motion carried.
PERFORMANCE REVIEW ON RAD PROJECT
A performance review on the radium removal project from the governor’s office was presented to the Council. The areas that were reviewed were initial requirements, project construction, civil rights compliance, national objectives, environmental review, financial management and eligibility of activities. All items were in proper order and no concerns were noted.
MOBILE HOME PARK ORDINANCE
Ordinance Number 11-01 received its first reading. This adds an amendment to the mobile home park ordinance which includes mobile home must be at least 10 foot wide; finished with quality siding; and have a peaked roof. Moved by Buchtel second by Dahlquist to approve the first reading of Ordinance Number 11-01. Aye: all. Motion carried.
2011 INSURANCE
Motion by Whitney second by Buchtel to approve the 2011 insurance package with the pool using BH Agency as our agent. Aye: all. Motion carried.
The finance officer reported that there is approximately $20,000.00 in the health insurance fund available for deductibles.
2011 ELECTION
Motion by Dahlquist second by Whitney to combine the municipal election with the school election on April 12, 2011 and hold it at the Community Center. Aye: all. Motion carried.
ITEMS TABLED
Motion by Whitney second by Dahlquist to table the executive session, spiking permits, and building permits since they were not needed. Aye: all. Motion carried.
COMMUNITY CENTER
An individual from the audience addressed the Council about the upkeep of the Community Center. There are cracks that need fixed, ceiling tiles that need replaced, and the cleaning is not acceptable. She asked the Council to look at the building and take care of it.
OTHER ITEMS DISCUSSED:
- Hydrant from the north will be moved.
- Written report from public works presented.
- Equalization will be reevaluating property in New Underwood some time in 2011.
Being no further business the Mayor adjourned the meeting at 6:30 p.m.
