Minutes June 15, 2016



A regular meeting of the New Underwood City Council was held at 6:00 p.m. at the Community Center on June 15, 2016. Present were: The meeting was called to order by Council President Holloway.  Councilmembers: Teresa Gossard, Laurie Holloway, Karin Shoemaker, and Kathy Trullinger. Absent:  Mayor Trullinger.  Also present: Meri Jo Anderson, Finance Officer, Tim Hall, Dir. of Public Works, and Deputy McPherson.



Motion by Gossard second by Shoemaker to approve the agenda. Aye: all. Motion carried.



Moved by Shoemaker second by Trullinger to approve the June 1, 2016, minutes as presented.  Aye: all. Motion carried. 



Motion by Gossard second by K. Trullinger to approve the check to NU School for the annual library donation of $1,000.00 as budgeted. Aye: all. Motion carried.



The cleaners had concerns with people not following the CC renter guidelines as far as cleaning and the problem with the doors being left open and allowing flies to get in. The Council agreed that a cleaning deposit should also be required.  The will set the amount and make motions the next meeting.  The Council felt that at times the doors being open has a purpose to the renter and will remain up to them.

  • Working on equipment that is down: Garbage truck, roller, Lincoln.

  • Hope to have the distributor changed over this week.



    The recommendations from safety benefits inspection and time frames for the improvements were presented to the Council. Motion by Gossard second by Trullinger to approve the stated plans. Aye: all. Motion carried.



    BP#16-09; Mark Gruetzmacher; 207 S. “C” Ave; deck & steps. Motion by Gossard second by Shoemaker to approve this permit. Aye: all. Motion carried.



  1. Governmental Funds Sheets were presented to the Council.

  2. July 6 meeting will remain on the 6th (this is the budget workshop in RC @ Ramkota 10 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) as will the July 20th meeting (this is the elected officials workshop in Pierre @ Ramkota 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.). A quorum of the Council may be present at both these meetings so they are considered a special meeting with no official city business being discussed.

  3. One of the lifeguards is doing the mowing for the city on lots that we bill for.

  4. City Hall Roof repair waiting on quotes.

  5. Pool & staff working great, in fact all departments are interacting well.


    Being no further business Councilor Holloway adjourned the meeting at 6:23 P.M.
