Minutes November 2, 2016
A regular meeting of the New Underwood City Council was held at 6:00 p.m. at the Community Center on November 2, 2016. Present were: Mayor Jack Trullinger, Councilmembers: Teresa Gossard, Laurie Holloway, Karin Shoemaker and Kathy Trullinger. Also present: Meri Jo Anderson, Finance Officer, Dir. of Public Works Tim Hall, Deputy McPherson, Randy Madsen, and Dianne Trullinger.

LAW ENFORCEMENT
- Verbal disturbances are up.
- Someone is walking through flood ditch late at night, if you see someone please report it by calling 911.
- Be careful when pulling out on 1416, since there have been 3 pursuits through New Underwood in the last two months.
PROPERTY SOUTH OF PUBLIC WORKS SHOP
The attorney for the Benita White Estate has called to negotiate a new purchase agreement with the City. The Council reviewed the purchase resolution that was passed in 2012 and discussed the pros and cons of acquiring this property, which included clean up, future development in the commercial district, getting rid of an eye sore on main street. Whereupon Resolution Number 16-05 was introduced by Mayor Trullinger.
RESOLUTION NUMBER 16-05
WHEREAS it has been determined by the New Underwood City Council that there is a need for additional land for the city, and
WHERAS South Dakota Codified law 9-12-1 grants municipalities the power to purchase real property and sets out the proper procedure to follow, and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the New Underwood City Council authorizes the Mayor and Finance Officer’s signatures on any and all documents necessary to acquire the property & buildings for the City of New Underwood at 513, 515, 517 S. “A” Avenue, New Underwood, South Dakota, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the New Underwood City Council authorizes the purchase price of $30,000.00, contingent on removal of all liens, judgements, and encumbrances by the current owners. That this money be used to purchase the land and buildings located at 513,515,517 S. “A” Avenue New Underwood, South Dakota, and more particularly described as follows:
Lots 7, 8, 9, & 10 Block 5 Original Town of New Underwood Section 31 in Township 2 North of Range 11 East of the Black Hills Meridian in the City of New Underwood, Pennington County, South Dakota.

2017 ELECTION
Motion by Gossard second by Holloway to combine the 2017 election with the school on April 11, 2017 and to appoint, Connie Carmichael, Jim McKee, and Kay McKee alternates Leroy Rankin and Tara Richter to the 2017 election board. Aye: all. Motion carried.
