                             MINUTES OF THE

NEW UNDERWOOD CITY COUNCIL

  

A regular meeting of the New Underwood City Council was held at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Center on October 20, 2010.  Present were: Councilmember’s: Rikka Buchtel, Jackie Dahlquist, Michael Green, and Joe Whitney.   Also present and late arrivals were:  Finance Officer Meri Jo Anderson, Tralice Ellis, John Torrey, Dena Whitney, and Cris, Keira & Sydnie Allen.  Meeting was called to order by Council President Green, since Mayor White was absent.

 

AGENDA

Moved by Dahlquist second by Whitney to approve the agenda.  Aye: all. Motion

carried.

 

MINUTES                                                               

Moved by Dahlquist second by Buchtel to approve the October 6, 2010 minutes. Aye: all.  Motion carried.

 

PUBLIC WORKS

The Dir. of Public Works presented his written report.  The staff has been reading meters, mowing, installing meters, sewer jetting, winterizing well and equipment, renewing solid waste permit and surface water discharge permits.

 

CEMETARY BOARD

The cemetery board requested the use of the road grader, Bill Tines will run it.  Motion by Dahlquist to grant this request and appoint Bill Tines as a City Volunteer, seconded by Whitney.  Aye: all.  Motion carried.

 

ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE LICENSE ORDINANCE

The first reading of ordinance number 10-05 was reintroduced with the changes the Council had requested.  (This ordinance updates our alcohol beverage ordinance with the changes the State made this year.)  Motion by Dahlquist second by Whitney to approve the first reading of Ordinance Number 10-05.  Aye: all. Motion carried.

 

STREET SIGNS

Motion by Whitney second by Buchtel to put the Pine street sign up on “C” & “B” Ave. and Wood Ave off 1416, but to reiterate these sections of streets are not on the municipal street system for maintenance.  Aye: all.  Motion carried.

 

BUILDING PERMITS

BP#10-23; First Interstate Bank; 404 S. “A” Ave; handicap ramp.

Moved by Dahlquist second by Whitney to approve BP#10-23 pending payment.  Aye: all.  Motion carried. If requested by the bank the City can paint handicap designation lines.

 

EXECUTIVE SESSION

It was suggested by the attorney to always have executive session on the agenda in case you need it.  Motion by Dahlquist second by Whitney to table the executive session, since it was not needed.  Aye: all.  Motion carried.

 

Other items discussed:

1.      Smoke testing sewer mains on November 3, 2010.

2.      Loss Control survey by Risk Management was preformed on October 12. 

3.      Abatement letter sent and the nuisance has been abated. 

4.      Governmental funds sheets were presented.

 

 Being no further business Council President Green adjourned the meeting at 6:15 p.m.
