New Underwood, South Dakota

A regular meeting of the New Underwood City Council was held at 6:00 p.m. at the Community Center on October 19, 2016. Present were: Mayor Jack Trullinger, Councilmembers: Teresa Gossard, Laurie Holloway, and Kathy Trullinger.  Absent: Karin Shoemaker. Also present: Meri Jo Anderson, Finance Officer, Dir. of Public Works Tim Hall, Deputy McPherson, and Dianne Trullinger.

AGENDA

Motion by Gossard second by Holloway to approve the agenda. Aye: all. Motion carried.

MINUTES

Moved by K. Trullinger second by Gossard to approve the October 3, 2016 minutes as presented.   Aye: all. Motion carried. 

DENR LAGOON INSPECTION

Mayor Trullinger presented the Lagoon Inspection Report by DENR and commended Public Works for not having any required corrective actions.

SIGN GRANT

Resolution number 16-03 was introduced.

WHEREAS, the SDDOT has funds available to grant public entities for a sign upgrade project;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Jack W. Trullinger or Meri Jo Anderson is hereby authorized to execute any and all documents necessary on behalf of the City of New Underwood with SDDOT for participation in this grant project and that Jack W. Trullinger, Mayor or Meri Jo Anderson, Finance Officer, is hereby authorized and directed to furnish such information to SDDOT and Pennington County Highway as may be reasonably requested.

Motion by Gossard second by Holloway to accept Resolution Number 16-03.  Roll call vote. Aye: Gossard, Holloway, and K. Trullinger. Nay: none.  Motion carried.

HEALTH INSURANCE

Resolution Number 16-04 was introduced.

WHEREAS, the City of New Underwood is allowed by the State of SD to Provide health insurance to its employees and after getting quotes on cost for these policies, and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of New Underwood hereby designates the Mayor and/or Finance Officer to act as signatory on the contract with the Health Pool of South Dakota including all other documentation and to provide such additional information as may be required to join the Health Pool of SD.

 OTHER ITEMS DISCUSSED:

1. The Sami Jo Pool House has been winterized.
2. Public Works is now repairing meters that were discovered during the annual reading, fine tuning garbage route, and picking up chips.
3. Deputy McPherson reminded the Council of the Prime Rib Supper and Auction at Crazy Horse on October 29th to raise money for CORE (freshman impact).

Being no further business Mayor Trullinger adjourned the meeting at 6:15 P.M.
