MINUTES OF THE
NEW UNDERWOOD CITY COUNCIL
A regular meeting of the New Underwood City Council was held at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Center on April 16, 2014. Present were: Mayor Jack Trullinger, Council member’s: Rikka Buchtel, Larry Graham, and Kathy Trullinger. Absent: Laurie Holloway. Also present: Finance Officer Meri Jo Anderson, Pub. Works Dir. John Bale, and Dianne Trullinger. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Trullinger.
Motion by Graham second by Buchel to approve the agenda. Aye: all. Motion carried.
Moved by K. Trullinger second by Graham to approve the April 9, 2014 minutes as presented with the following correction: It should have been SP#14-06 instead of 14-04. Aye: all. Motion carried.

Five loads of branches have been removed from the flood ditch between Ash & Oak. Relining sewer lines, a demonstration will be held in Custer the 23rd. Public Works, the Mayor and Councilor Graham will try to attend.
The hiring of the public works summer help was discussed. Of the $8,000.00 budgeted, there remains $4,775.00, and we usually spend approximately $6,000.00. The Mayor explained that the Council could supplement the budget now or try to absorb the cost from other areas in public works. The Council would like to wait until this fall to see where we are at in the budget process. They gave permission to hire the summer help mid-May.
The Mayor reported he is continuing with the shuts offs, when necessary, and the citizens are staying current on their utility bills.
SAMI JO POOL
The Finance Officer reported that four people had passes their lifeguard certification classes, with two agreeing to co-manage the Sami Jo Pool. We will need to get at least three more certified. A new solar cover and roller have been ordered. The Mayor reported we will start on the pool next week to get it ready for repainting.
CLEAN UP WEEK-END
Clean up week-end is April 26 and 27th. The dump will be open and manned from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If citizens with branches left in their yards would pile them on the side of the street, Economic Development Corporation has volunteered to pick them up on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. Mr. Travis Madsen has again agreed to let the City pile the branches on his land. The Mayor and Council thanked Economic Development group and Mr. Madsen for again helping the City out.
DRINKING WATER REPORT
The Mayor reported he did get permission to use the 2013 figures instead of the 2009 figures DENR had in the report. It is posted on line and at City Hall.
SUPPLEMENTAL BUDGET ORDINANCE
Supplemental Budget Ordinance #14-03 received its first reading. The backhoe payment needed to be added to the 2014 budget. Moved by Buchtel second by K. Trullinger to approve the first reading of Ordinance Number 14-03. Aye: all. Motion carried.
BP#14-07; Clint Ness; 22897 161st Ave; remove shed.
Motion by Buchtel second by Graham to approve this permit. Aye: all. Motion carried.
RADIUM REMOVAL PLANT
The Mayor reported that WRT will be changing out the median after Labor Day since the removal system could be down from 5 to 7 days, while they make the change.
OTHER ITEMS DISCUSSED
Monthly Governmental Funds Sheets were presented.
Pet Clinic April 26 10 a.m. to noon.
Dump keys were given to the Council.
Being no further business Mayor Trullinger adjourned the meeting at 6:35 p.m.
