MINUTES OF THE

NEW UNDERWOOD CITY COUNCIL

 

A public hearing on the 2013 Budget was opened at 7:15 p.m. on August 15, 2012.  Present for the hearing was Mayor Trullinger, Councilors Buchtel, Holloway, White, and Whitney, Meri Jo Anderson, Jackie Dahlquist, Dianne Trullinger, Rory & Amy Pischer, and John Bale.  The Mayor, Council, and Finance Officer went over the proposed budget and made some necessary changes. The hearing closed at 7:35 with the regular meeting of the New Underwood City Council called to order by Mayor Trullinger.

 

AGENDA

Motion by Whitney second by White to approve the amended agenda.  Aye: all. Motion carried.

 

MINUTES 

Moved by Buchtel second by Holloway to approve the August 1, 2012 minutes as presented.  Aye: all.  Motion carried. 

 

PUBLIC WORKS

Mr. Bale reported the staff has been chip sealing, picked up garage door for ground storage, and regular duties. 

Mr. Bale also requested being temporarily excused from the meetings, due to the new later time for a semester course Councilor Buchtel is taking.  The Council agreed that he could be excused from the meetings unless they needed him to address critical issues.  He was instructed to give the Mayor the public works report and the Mayor will convey it to the Council.

 

STREET SEALER OR TACKING

Discussion followed on how many blocks of streets were chip sealed and the cost of sealing/tacking those streets and if the money is available.  Motion by White second by Buchtel to expend up to $6,000.00 of second penny money to tack the streets that were chip sealed this year.  Roll call vote.  Aye:  Buchtel, Holloway, White, and Whitney.  Nay: none.  Motion carried.

 

ORDINANCE NUMBER 12-10

2013 Budget Ordinance Number 12-10 received its first reading. Motion by Buchtel second by Whitney to approve the first reading of Ordinance Number 12-10.  Aye: all.  Motion carried.

 

NON-CONFORMING MOBILE HOME

Mr. Pischer explained he did not have the siding complete, but he is working on complying and asked for an additional 30 days extension.  Motion by Buchtel second by Holloway to grant this request.  Aye:  Buchtel, Holloway, White.  Abstain: Whitney.  Motion carried.

 

SPIKING PERMIT

Sp#12-11; Jeff Hoffman; September 22, 2012

Moved by Whitney second by White to approve this permit.  Aye: all.  Motion carried.

 

BUILDING PERMITS

BP#12-20; Joe Whitney; 117 S. “B” Ave; deck.

Motion by Holloway second by Buchtel to approve adding a deck to this permit.  Aye: Buchtel, Holloway, and White.  Abstain: Whitney.  Motion carried.

 

Other items discussed:

1. Alley graveling priority list.

2. Municipal League Conference in October, the Council will let the office know before the registration deadline.

 

Being no further business Mayor Trullinger adjourned the meeting at 8:05 p.m.
