MINUTES OF THE
NEW UNDERWOOD CITY COUNCIL
A regular meeting of the New Underwood City Council was held at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Center on March 18, 2009. Present were: Mayor Benita R. White, Councilmember’s: Michael Green, Tyler Richter, John Torrey, and Jack Trullinger; Also present: Fin. Officer Meri Jo Anderson, Dir. Public Works Greg Hall, Cris, Keira, Sydnie, and Summer Allen, Diane Trullinger, Tony Ascrizzi , Joe Whitney, and Travis Madsen.
Moved by Green second by Trullinger to approve the amended agenda. Aye: all. Motion
Moved by Trullinger second by Torrey to approve the March 4, 2009 minutes as presented. Aye: all. Motion carried.
GOVERNOR’S ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE
The Governor’s Economic Development Conference is April 14 & 15 in Pierre. Motion by Trullinger second by Torrey that the Finance Officer can take the City car to this conference. Aye: all. Motion carried.
The Mayor reported that the City has changed health insurance companies and raised the deductible, with the City health insurance fund self insuring for this increase. This change will save the City approximately $8000.00 a year. The goal is to keep increasing the deductible until the City is self insured except for major medical.
ELECTRICAL ON PUBLIC WORKS SHOP
A letter from the electrical engineer with his suggestions on the electrical in the new shop was presented. Discussion followed on what type of heat to install. Mr. Hall will get figures on geothermal heating verses electrical and propane.

The Council had all physically looked at the property and the stakes. Moved by Richter second by Green to approve this permit. Aye: all. Motion carried.
BP09-05; Joe Whitney; 117 S. “B” Ave; deck
Motion by Richter second by Green to approve this permit. Aye: all. Motion carried.
An amendment to the zoning ordinance needs to be prepared defining exactly what is the central business district.
OTHER ITEMS DISCUSSED:
1. District Meeting in Custer April 22, 2009.
2. Equalization minutes were presented. The Roping Club will have to go before the County Commission to request to remain tax exempt.
3. The next meeting is April 1. Councilman Trullinger will keep the minutes, since the Finance Officer will be gone.
Being no further business the Mayor adjourned the meeting at 6:50 p.m.
